Sitemaps are a directory of your content. They help search engines evaluate your website. Websites on common platforms don?t need to worry too much about sitemaps. But they become much more important on big websites with vast amounts of content and pages.
According to Moz, canonical tags tell search engines which page is the ?master copy of a page.? This is important when you have multiple URLs that deliver very similar or the same content.
Moving a page? Implement a redirect from the old page to the new page so that search engines and users who have indexed/bookmarked the old page are sent directly to the new URL.
